Information Technology: A Catalyst of Change
The emergence of the world towards digitization is going rampant and it
affects almost all aspects of our personal lives. From waking up in the morning
immediately picking up the phone to check emails and messages to doing our daily
tasks tirelessly may it be in school or work and present reports using various Microsoft
tools to going home and just purchasing food in a fast food through the use of online digital banking. Information
technology is everywhere.
Information technology has a
huge impact on my personal life. I can communicate easily with my friends and
family all over the world with just a tap of my mobile phone or laptop. I can
verify the factuality of the information that’s been disseminated all over the
internet to not become a victim of fake news. I can also purchase products on
the internet without going to the physical stores inside the malls. I can just order
food online whenever I’m tired from work. I also feel connected to other people
whenever I read their success stories with photos and videos through various social platforms and be
motivated and inspired to keep going. Also, I am updated with the news
delivered either through radio, television or on social media. Most importantly,
as a bread winner, I can be able to track my financial expenses every month and
be able to do budgeting.
On the other side, in my work,
as a government employee working in a centralized banking system, the ease of
disseminating the bank’s updated guidelines, policies and memorandums is very
helpful in accomplishing the daily tasks which will later contribute to the
overall accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the organization.
Communication also with the various department heads in the central office regarding
issues and concerns of the clients is also easy and can be responded urgently. As
I am assigned as the support unit of the loan department, I can easily monitor
loan accounts that are possible for delinquency which can be urgently responded
with various remedial measures. I can also track the financial performance of
the department whenever we reach certain monthly, quarterly, or annual targets through
Microsoft Office tools. I am also able to respond to various work-related
queries whenever I am at home.
All of these are possible
because of how advanced technology is. It makes our everyday life easier and
more convenient. All it needs is resiliency as the world is ever changing. Proper
usage is the key as this information technology brings an enormous impact to
the overall performance of the organization and maximizes our potential as
individuals.
